Oil Workers Tortured to Death in Iran's Prisons - Hashem Kameli and Gholame Barzegar, two Shahr-e-Ray Oil wrokers have died under torture in IRI prisons. They had been arrested in the 2-3000 Oil Wrokers gathering in Tehran a few weeks back.
N.M.I.R condemns this brutal suppression of the Iranian oil workers, who have only demanded the most basic rights in the most peaceful way. Why do these workers who generate the wealth of the country, have to be treated so ?. What happened to Khomeini's promises of free electricity, water, buses ... and free housing for all ?!!.
Long live the heroic workers of Iran's oil industry and long live the memory of Hashem Kameli and Gholame Barzegar.

Earthquake in the Northwest of Iran - The recent earthquake in the northwestern part of Iran has now claimed more than 1000 lives and has made 35,000 people homeless. Snow and freezing weather conditions has made the plight of those people affected even harder.
The rescue operation is also difficult due to the mountainous nature of the region.
There were 200 after-shocks after the initial quake in Ardabil and another earthquake hit the town of Bojnurd again but without any reports of casualty.

'..Allah is testing us ...", was the remark made by President Rafsanjani in the aftermath of the earthquake.
