About NAMIR

The National Movement of the Iranian Resistance is a broad-based coalition of Iranian people, inside and outside the country, who are working for the end of Khomeini's tyrannical, theocratic regime and its replacement by a democratic government.

NAMIR is dedicated to the liberation of Iran from religious fanaticism and to the establishment of a state, which will adhere to the values of liberty, justice and human dignity within a pluralistic society. NAMIR believes in the seperation of religion from the institutions of Government and the creation of a stable, prosperous Iran and the establishment of peace and security throughout the Persian Gulf.

NAMIR was founded by Dr. Shapur Bakhtiar. Dr. Bakhtiar was tragically murdered by the agents of the Islamic Republic of Iran in August 1991. However NAMIR continues its activities in the following fronts :

Establishing a unified, strong and effective alternative made up of all the democratic forces opposing the Islamic Republic regime.
Gaining the support of the international public opinion by continuing to expose the horrors of the Islamic Republic.
To produce detailed plans and programmes for rebuilding the future Iran.
Making contacts with the active sections of the population inside Iran.
Social and cultural activities amongst the Iranian population outside of Iran.

There are many ways in which you can join our struggle. We need experts in all areas who can contribute towards building a strong alternative. It is the popular belief that only a lack of strong alternative is what is keeping this medieval regime in power.
